Shamrock shake virgin no more.

It's that time again! Shamrock Shakes are back at McDonald's for a limited time. I hadn't ever had one before last night and now I'm hooked. They're pretty gross but awesome at the same time. Mmmmmmm.

I know that some bands are formulaic with their songwriting, but this is ridiculous.

Listen to this with headphones and you will be blown away (not in a good way though). Thanks for the heads-up James!

This is so charming. You must take a look.

Ryan and I celebrated Valentine's Day on President's Day because of work. First we went to see The Gates. It was extra-pretty because it had snowed the night before. Then we headed downtown for dinner at Freeman's. Everything was great. We started with sauvignon blanc, devils on horseback (prunes stuffed with stilton cheese and wrapped in bacon), and the spinach salad. Then Ryan had the venison stew with squash and creme fraiche and I had the macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately we were too stuffed to have dessert. We then headed to Hi-fi for cheap booze and their awesome jukebox. It was a lovely day.

What did I say?? WHAT DID I SAY!!!

So it looks like house-buying is off for now. Ryan's parents kind-of panicked (I think) and they're going to spend the money elsewhere. They say that they'll try to help us get a co-op, but who knows when that'll be. Well, at least we got to prowl through lots of pretty houses.

One for you to watch.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS:

Deitch Projects, that wacky gallery in Soho, is looking for artists to participate in a "groundbreaking new television documentary". If you are picked, yourself and 7 other contestants will compete for the chance to have a solo show at Deitch. The filming will start on February 27th and will go for 8 days. Here's all the info you will need. Oh, and they say you will interact with celebrities. Why else would you do it? Good luck!

Sorry I disappeared for a while.

Not that I have anything interesting to say at the moment. My days have been filled with seeing The Gates, taking trips to Massachusetts with Joe to photograph Liza Ward, and going to the Folk Art Museum with Christina and our mom. They have some wonderful stuff in their collection. You should go sometime.

Coincidentally, I started reading "Death of a Salesman" 3 days ago.

Had I never met Arthur Miller, I probably wouldn't have thought much of his death. But that day that Joe and I spent photographing his girlfriend Agnes Barley was so pleasant, because she was so sweet and their home in CT was so, well, homey. I just feel so sad for Agnes and Arthur's family. I found it quite surprising that he had been sick, because he seemed so healthy and full of life when we met.

I will never leave the house again.

Every Nintendo game ever, for free. It's slow but oh so nostalgic.

Every Video Game

Bound to be famous.

It looks like our good friend Marcel Dzama designed the cover of Beck's new album. Cool!

Oh my god, watch this.

Thank you Lindsayism for posting this link. You must watch this video. It'll either horrify you or make you pee your pants.

Save them up and use them all year round.

The Onion has "Love Coupons" on their site that are just awesome. Valentine's Day is only one day a year though. I suggest that you present one monthly to your honey. Why not spread the love all through the year?

I learned something new today.

This morning I finished reading "The End of Alice" and the narrator kept using the word frig. It never occurred to me that frig might be an actual word, so I looked it up on webster.com. Here's what they say:

Main Entry: frig
Pronunciation: 'frig
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): frigged; frig·ging
Etymology: Middle English - fryggen - to wriggle
usually vulgar : COPULATE -- sometimes used in the present participle as a meaningless intensive

Goodness, it's a bad word!! Oops, guess I shouldn't use it in front of little kids.

I wonder if he still works at B&N

Robbers on High Street have a new album out on 2/22, but you can currently download 3 songs off the website. I recommend that you do.

Frenchy

Ryan's parents took us to dinner last night after looking at a house in the Park Slope/Boerum Hill area. The restaurant was called Moutarde and it'a French bistro on 5th Ave. just a couple blocks from Southpaw. The moule frites and steak frites were killer, mostly because of the frites. Apparantly the brunch is fab too, so we'll have to shlep over there some time to try it. Maybe you can join us?

So the band we photographed was...

Arcade Fire! We did the shoot at Mercury Lounge since it was close to their hotel (the HoJo on Houston, weird, right?). They were all pretty tired from their show the night before, and the singer, Win, was just downright cranky. He told Joe that the shots wouldn't work and that they never work with such a big group. We think he was mad because he was placed all the way to the right in the pictures, and not dead-center like the singer usually is.

Ryan bought me a ticket to the show at Irving Plaza last night. Final Fantasy opened. He's just one guy with a violin and a pedal that loops sounds. He was awesome. ManMan were terrible and no one was into them. Their sound was just too eclectic for the crowd. Arcade Fire were great. The energy they had on stage was better than most bands out there. And any band with 7 members that can all play every instrument makes for an entertaining show. Check out their site if you have a minute.

UPDATE!!! Apparantly David Byrne played a song with the band during the encore. Unfortunately I made Ryan go home early with me because my back was hurting from standing up all day. Aaghhhhhhhhhh. Ryan wants to kill me, just a little.

Gross!

Girlshop.com has a wonderful gift just in time for Valentine's Day. Bush stencils!

I have the best job sometimes...

Tomorrow Joe and I are shooting a very "now" band. I will reveal their group identity once it happens. Oh, and they're on Conan O'Brien tonight if you want a hint.

Shop till you flop!

Fyi: it's tax-free week here in NYC. Get your shop on!

Idea!

Hey there. Would you, my friends, do me a favor and save me the fake credit cards you get in the mail? You know, the plastic cards that look real except that they say YOUR NAME HERE. I have an idea for a project using them.

Thanks!!
